spending much of my adult life in the central valley where Modesto was home. She
worked in the field of criminal justice for almost 20 years as a police officer and
juvenile corrections supervisor. She attends New Birth North Church where Rev.
Robert C. Moore is the Pastor. Teaching people to know, love and follow Christ is our
mission. I work with the Recovery Ministry pointing hurting people toward a God who
is bigger than any addiction they could have.
Understanding life transition is not new for me after raising two daughters.
Understanding the empty nest syndrome and divorce in a new environment around
new people who do not really know you is a learned skill the Lord and His word taught
me. God continues to sustain, to bless and grant me favor. I am a Flight Attendant for
Air Tran Airways. I am a woman, mother, grandmother, sister and friend, but most of
all, I am a child of God.
I have experienced many challenges in life, but through the heartache, pain, self-
doubt and the desire at times to just give up, I have gained much wisdom as I
searched Gods Word for answers. I have found hope, peace and joy unspeakable in
the person of Jesus Christ. He is all I need and with him, all things are possible.
JANELL RYAN of Ceres, California is a member of New Beginnings
Worship Center in Modesto, California. I gave my life to the Lord Jesus Christ 30
years ago. Before I became a Christian, I was bitter about my physical handicap. I was
born with Muscular Atrophy which is a disease called "Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease.
I graduated from Lassen College in 1977. I lived in the dorm on campus. One night a
male student came through my window and raped me. He told me he did it because i
was a Christian. I was a few days before the 4th of July, so I went home. My parents
brought me back to report what happen. I had bitterness in my heart. I later realized
that bitterness was hindering my relationship with the Lord. Once I gave the situation
completely to the Lord, and forgave the young man for his actions, the bitterness was
gone.
My God took over and I am thankful and filled with praises to Him everyday for
helping me to overcome obstacles so that I could serve Him.
2 Corinthians says "When I am Weak, He is Strong." I am happy to say I am no
longer bitter. God has given me peace. If I can help anyone, they only need to ask.
